“I am deeply honored and humbled to join the Pima Community College family,” said Dr. Nasse. “This institution holds such an essential place in the Tucson community, and I accept this role with great pride and a tremendous sense of responsibility. Education can be such a transformational opportunity for our entire community. As I step into the position of Chancellor, I am certainly mindful of the great work that has been done before me and all the dedicated professionals who have contributed to the accomplishments of this great institution. Leadership is about serving and uplifting each other. I look forward to working collaboratively with our board, faculty and staff, and community partners in our shared mission to support student success. Thank you for welcoming me and my family into this incredible community. I am truly excited about the journey ahead and the many opportunities we will explore together.”
On Leadership – “As your Chancellor, my leadership approach is guided by the fundamental principle that students and their success must be the driving factor for every decision we make at Pima Community College. This will require collaboration at multiple levels, including a commitment to shared governance. And, importantly, we need an intentional commitment to continually improving communication at various levels across the institution to strengthen our trust in each other as we accomplish the mission.”
First 100 Days – “Earlier in my tenure, I announced a plan for my first 100 days at the College – Listening, Learning and Leading. The main goal is to engage you in a structured process of listening and learning to help me understand PCC’s strengths as well as any opportunities for improvement. This leadership journey will engage students, faculty, staff, our Governing Board and our community partners in an active and collaborative dialogue on the overall direction of the college.”
On Student Success – “One of the great joys of working at a community college is that we serve a richly diverse population, and it is our responsibility to ensure that every individual has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background. This means addressing systemic barriers, amplifying the voices of those who have been historically underrepresented, and creating an environment where everyone feels valued and supported.”
