At Pima Foundation, Earth Day is more than just a date on the calendar—it’s a moment to reflect, connect, and commit to a more sustainable future. A few weeks ago, Pima Community College hosted its largest-ever Climate Community Day, and the energy from that event still lingers in the best possible way.
Students, educators, and local leaders came together to celebrate the power of youth-driven climate action, spotlighting just how deeply invested the next generation is in building a greener, more sustainable world. With over two dozen local nonprofits, powerful presentations from young activists, and student projects, it was a day that reminded us that change begins here, in our own backyard.
We’re thrilled to continue that conversation on the latest episode of the Pima Voices Podcast, featuring Pima alum and local climate activist and communicator Adriana Bachmann. As a passionate voice in the fight for climate justice, Adrianna shares her journey and the importance of intergenerational collaboration in tackling some of today’s most pressing environmental challenges.
As we celebrate Earth Day this spring, we’re reminded that just like the desert in bloom, hope and action grow when nurtured by community.
To everyone who’s planting seeds—of awareness, of education, of positive change—thank you. You are what makes this world a little greener, a little better, and a whole lot more inspiring.
Listen to Adrianna’s episode now, and join us in honoring Earth, today and every day.
See some of our staff’s sustainable suggestions below!
Marcy: Try composting food waste! Also, save extra water for your plants and garden instead of pouring it down the drain.
Savannah: Instead of using paper towels or napkins, try investing in dishcloths and cloth napkins. This will help eliminate single use paper goods in your house. And of course, shop secondhand when possible!
Diana: If you can, invest in solar like we did for our home, and of course recycle by the city’s guidelines. Extra clothes and household items lying around? Donate them to your local thrift store.
Zulma: Recycle as much as you can and try to save water and electricity by not overusing what you need.
Saby: Invest in solar panels, recycle, donate extra clothing, and don’t leave water running when you’re not using it!
