Before July comes to a close, I want to take a moment to recognize that it’s Culinary Arts Month, so it’s worth taking a closer look at the places where passion, creativity, and opportunity come together. At Pima Community College’s Center of Excellence in Hospitality Leadership, students aren’t simply learning how to navigate the kitchen, they’re preparing for careers that will shape Southern Arizona’s hospitality industry for years to come.

At Desert Vista Campus, the renovated spaces have brought excitement and excellence together, bridging community and culinary cuisine.

The Aztec Grill strives to prepare made-to-order meals for the campus community. Just beyond the Grill, the Production Kitchen comes alive with movement as the commercial ovens hum while students buzz in front of stoves. Around the corner, the bakery and pastry kitchen have delicate pastries slowly taking shape, but we cannot forget about the the Bistro, a student-run restaurant that feels more like a neighborhood favorite than a classroom. Here, students bring everything they’ve learned together. Every carefully prepared plate, every greeting at the door and every detail of service reflects months of practice and collaboration.

Walking through the Center, one thing becomes clear. Hospitality isn’t simply about food, it’s about welcoming people and creating moments around the love of food while serving your community with excellence.
