Award in memory of Joe Harris, a metalworker and sculptor in Tucson, Arizona. At eight years old he started working in his dad’s shop who was a manufacturing jeweler, and this environment fostered the notion that nothing is technically impossible to do, if you can understand it, you can do it.

Joe worked at Pima Community College as an Adjunct Professor for almost 30 years, teaching Sculpture and Metalwork. Together with his wife, Betty Harris who shares the same skills and passion, enjoyed sharing knowledge and technique with students and helped build up the art department.

Their work has been exhibited in Arizona, New Mexico, North Carolina and California. They have led workshops, received various grants, residencies and honors over the years.

Those considered eligible for the Joe Harris Memorial Sculpture Fund must meet the following requirements:

*PCC student enrolled in an Art Degree Program, excelling in three-dimensional work (ex: sculpture, metalwork, ceramic)
