Tucson Street Rod Association Presents Pima with $25,000 Check!

The Tucson Street Rod Association (TSRA) has announced its continued support for Pima Community College’s Center of Excellence in Applied Technology Programs. This collaboration aims to graduate more students skilled in hands-on technology, including automotive (diesel and electronic vehicles), aviation, construction, welding, advanced industrial technology, CNC machining, and other fields.

At an event held at the Pima Community College (PCC) Downtown Campus on July 9, the TSRA presented a $25,000 check to the Pima Foundation. These funds will be further boosted by an additional $5,125 in matching funds from The Connie Hillman Family Foundation.

The TSRA Rodders Days Car Show is not just an event for car enthusiasts, but also a platform for supporting local charities and educational programs. The funds raised at the car show are used to support PCC’s Applied Technology Programs, Elks Lodge #385 Clothe A Child Program, Elks Lodge #385 Blind Veterans Program, Trico Electric Cooperative Scholarships, Sister José Women’s Center, Gospel Resue Mission, Youth on Their Own, GAP Ministries, Canyon del Oro High School’s Auto Program, Marana High School’s Auto Program and Square & Compass Children’s Clinic.

“We’re proud to continue our support for Pima Community College,” said Gary Scheer, TSRA vice president. “By investing in these students, we’re not only supporting our local community but also helping to ensure the future of these important trades.”

“The TSRA car show brings hundreds of prospective students to our campus each year, promotes our programs to the future employers of our students, and has provided tens of thousands of dollars to support our Applied Technology programs since 2018,” said Greg Wilson, dean of Applied Technology at Pima. “We are incredibly grateful for their support.”
